Miss Loretta Lynn and Mr. Willie Nelson and I developed a relationship when I got a divorce in 1979. It was the year when I finally felt I could be me, whatever “me” was.

I donned a cowboy hat, and my old college cowboy boots, and went looking and found much of myself in their songs and at biker and yuppie bars along Kingston Pike in Knoxville and for that matter across the Tennessee Valley.

Rest in peace Miss Loretta, I still listen to you most every day and still find more of me as I go along to get along.

I hope to see you on the other side of the gate if St. Peter lets me in.

If you have not seen this 60 Minutes episode, I highly recommend it.
