Congratulations to Ron Vollmer, 2023 Tybee MLK Founder Dreamer Award Recipient.

Ron is a very active community leader, has lived on Tybee for 25 years, and is my neighbor and friend.

He served in the US Army for 20 years and was Commander of the Tybee American Legion Post 154 until last year. He has worked tirelessly with all the Island nonprofits, Helping TybeeMLK with Juneteenth and the MLK Federal holiday.

His community spirit promoted “Bingo and Burgers” at the legion, and his support of the annual Legio Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt at Jaycee Park created an annual must-go to event.

Ron and his team cooked over 100 steak dinners for Mother’s and Father’s day. He oversaw necessary capital improvements at the Legion Building and has always cultivated and reinforced inclusiveness as part of the American Dream.
