He wept yesterday. Not for long, but long enough. There was nothing else he could do.
These days, the Old Man’s comfort was his pipe, a good Bourbon, and the cold concrete bench at the curve in Highway 80.
The weeping was for Fathers and their daughters, especially for the Father in LA whose daughter was brutally stabbed and left to die on the floor of a furniture showroom.
The Old Man had no children. However, he “adopted” over the years a few daughters, each with distinct personalities and interests. They abided him his “Fatherliness.” They are all now in their adulthood and with their lives stretched ahead.
The tragedy reminded his approach to the Gate. He must let them know he loved them, now and forever.
He prayed other Fathers did the same.
